I completed a campaign, why am I being charged for influencer incentives?

Beyond the legal obligations, honoring the contract with influencers is the right thing to do: influencers often spend time and resources preparing content, setting aside availability, or conducting research upfront.

By entering into our subscription agreement, brands agreed to honor all terms—including partial influencer compensation for early campaign termination. And by selecting an influencer on our platform, brands enter into a legally binding contract with them. If the brand later decides to turn off the campaign (which happens!), the brand is prematurely terminating that contract and is still legally obligated to pay influencers for the work they have created.

Beyond the legal obligations, honoring the contract with influencers is the right thing to do: influencers often spend time and resources preparing content, setting aside availability, or conducting research upfront.

When you withdraw from the campaign after they’ve begun work, it creates both financial and reputational risks for your brand. Failing to pay could lead to legal disputes and harm your brand reputation amongst other creators and influencers, limiting future partnerships. It’s always best to respect contract terms, maintain trust with influencers, and preserve a positive brand image.

Partial Payment Schedules

The following is our current partial payment schedule for prematurely terminated campaigns:

Contracts Requiring Content Pre-Approval, Based on Influencer Status at Time of Campaign Completion:

  • Not Started: No payment required.
  • Content In Review:  If an influencer has already uploaded content and they uploaded it within 30 days of the deadline, then the brand will be charged 50% of the agreed-upon rate at premature campaign completion:
    • This payment will be processed via our standard automated payment process:
      • The brand will be invoiced for the partial incentive on the Tuesday following the completion of the campaign.
  • Content Approved but Not Yet Posted: If the brand approved the influencer's content prior to canceling the campaign but the influencer didn't have a chance to post, then the brand will be charged 100% of the agreed-upon rate at premature campaign completion:
    • This payment will be processed via our standard automated payment process:
      • The brand will be invoiced for the full incentive on the Tuesday following the completion of the campaign.
  • In Progress: If the brand approved the content prior to cancelling the campaign and the influencer had posted some but not yet all of the content, then the brand will be charged 100% of the agreed-upon rate at premature campaign completion:
    • This payment will be processed via our standard automated payment process:
      • The brand will be invoiced for the full incentive on the Tuesday following the completion of the campaign.
  • Complete: If an influencer had already posted all approved content and is in a Complete status prior to the brand completing the campaign, their incentive will be processed as normal.

Contracts that DO NOT Require Content Pre-Approval, Based on Influencer Status at Time of Campaign Completion:

  • Not Started: No payment required.
  • In Progress: Influencers will be paid based on a prorated percentage of in-feed posts completed.
    •  Examples:
      • If 3 In-Feed Posts and 3 stories are required, but they've only had a chance to post 2 posts but 0 stories:  66% of the incentive is paid.
        • 2 In-Feed Posts Live ÷ 3 Total Required In-Feed Posts = 66%
      • If 3 Posts and 3 stories are required, and they've only had a chance to post 3 stories but 0 in-feed posts: No Payment is required.
        • 0 In-Feed Posts Live ÷ 3 Total Required In-Feed Posts = 0%
      • If 1 post and 2 stories are required, and they've posted 1 post but 0 stories: 100% is paid.
        • 1 In-Feed Posts Live ÷ 1 Total Required In-Feed Posts = 100%
    • Complete: If an influencer has already completed content prior to the brand completing the campaign, their incentive will be processed as normal.

How Do I Know If Pre-Approval Was Required Or Not?

For individual influencers, check their contract:

Navigate to Offer Management>Accepted, then click on the influencer and click "View Contract" from the right pop-up panel:
